2023 marks 45 years of Kangaroo Bus Lines (KBL) delivering superior transport solutions and experiences. We are thankful to our valued clients, the community, and of course our people (past and present) who have helped KBL grow from a humble six-bus operation to a leading operator in South East Queensland.
Below are just some of the highlights of our year that was.
Schools & Education
KBL Awarded School Bus Contract
Following a comprehensive tender process, Kangaroo Bus Lines was awarded the contract as Brisbane Grammar School’s and Brisbane Girls Grammar School’s new transport provider.
“The entire KBL team are extremely proud to have been awarded the transport contracts for Brisbane Boys and Brisbane Girls Grammar Schools,” says our CEO, Darren Webster. “We are all looking forward to partnering with these two prestigious schools from January 2024 in providing our first-class service for their travel requirements around SEQ.”
Charters & Tours
Kangaroo Bus Lines provided services to over 160 schools in 2023, from students flying in from Rockhampton to spend four days exploring SEQ, to NSW students travelling north by coach to camp in Noosa.
Australian Trade College VETiS Head of Department, Jakob Mathews, says, “I want to say what an amazing service you have all provided at Kangaroo Bus Lines. From yourselves (with my continuous back and forth emails) all the way to the always happy and cheerful bus drivers.
“And I cannot say thank you enough for the help Kangaroo Bus Lines provided on the day when we had not booked in the bus service at the start of Term 4.”
Our Educational Tours team were kept busy building bespoke itineraries, with 25 school groups travelling to Canberra, and 15 to Outback Queensland.
“Have just done a huge school trip with Kangaroo Bus Lines and have to say the drivers and staff were absolutely amazing in every way! Great drivers, great guides, and great people! Highly recommend for Western Queensland school trips.” ~ Google review
Kangaroo Bus Lines would like to thank the multitude of school representatives who we work in partnership with coordinating excursions, camps, and many other memorable schooling moments for making our jobs easier and more enjoyable on a daily basis.
Major Events
FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023™
Football fever hit the River City this year when Brisbane hosted eight FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023™ games over July and August. Kangaroo Bus Lines were thrilled to provide shuttle services for football fans travelling to the ninth edition of the biggest stage for women’s football, and the first to be held in the southern hemisphere!
Rock ‘n’ Roll
Suncorp Stadium hosted some impressive stadium tours this year, and our partnership with Brisbane City Council saw Kangaroo Bus Lines get our rock on shuttling fans to and from shows by Paul McCartney, Ed Sheeran and the Foo Fighters. With more artists touring Australia in the new year, we look forward to safely transporting music lovers to and from upcoming gigs.
Forces & Services
United States Navy
In July, Kangaroo Bus Lines showcased our Sunshine State to sailors and marines disembarking from the USS America and USS New Orleans. During their brief stopover in Brisbane as part of Exercise Talisman Sabre 2023 (TS23), crew members were transported to various tourist attractions including Tangalooma, Australia Zoo, the Eumundi Markets, and the Gold Coast, with some lucky KBL staff receiving USS New Orleans caps as a memento!
Queensland Bush Fires
Kangaroo Bus Lines were proud to transport interstate and New Zealand emergency services personnel to and from Toowoomba during October and November in support of Queensland’s bushfire response.
Inbound Tourism
The cruise industry continues to grow in Queensland, with the Sunshine State the country’s second-largest cruise economy. Regularly providing day tour, shuttle services and airport transfers for our valued cruise partners for both Brisbane and Mooloolaba port calls, Kangaroo Bus Lines is proudly becoming a familiar brand to both international and interstate cruise guests.
We look forward to supporting our cruise partners in showcasing all that South East Queensland has to offer in what promises to be another bumper cruise season next year.
Our motto of People, Pride and Passion shines brighter with every new achievement, milestone, and satisfied customer, and we look forward to another mutually successful year in 2024.
“On behalf of the Webster Family, Management Team and all our people, we would like to thank all our valued clients and customers for their partnerships during 2023,” Darren says. “We would also like to thank all our business partners for their continued support of the KBL team throughout the year.
“We wish everyone a Merry Christmas and prosperous and safe New Year, hope that everyone enjoys the festive season with their families and friends, and more importantly, stay safe on the roads.”
