Your child’s Educational Tour is fast approaching and you are starting to stress as you have no idea where to start with the packing! Look no further, we have put together some practical guidelines for parents to ensure your child gets the most out of their touring experience with Kangaroo Bus Lines.
On the Coach:
All Kangaroo Bus Lines coaches have overhead luggage racks on board. It’s handy to pack a small backpack to take on tour with some essential items to make the coach ride as comfortable as possible. The backpack can then be used for day excursions whilst away. The following items are recommended for long distance travel:
- Water bottle – Stay Hydrated!
- Pillow
- Small Travel Blanket
- Hat
- Tissues
- Warm Jacket for overnight rest stops and early mornings in transit
Handy Tip: Layered clothing is a good idea for cold mornings and warmer days. It’s easy to remove a layer and store in their backpack.
Underneath the Coach:
Luggage space is ample in our touring coaches: however, for ease of packing under the coach, one soft suitcase or sports bag is preferred for your child’s trip away. Please bear in mind the items packed in your child’s suitcase will not be accessible until they reach their accommodation so ensure all essential items stored in their hand luggage. Following is a guideline on what to pack in the suitcase however your school may have a more detailed list available:
- Toiletries (please no aerosols)
- Underwear & socks
- T-shirts
- Pants/shorts
- Tracksuit
- Warm PJ’s
- 2 pairs of walking shoes
- Thongs/ flip flops for showering
Handy Tip: It’s a great idea to get your child involved in the packing of their bags so they know what’s in their suitcase whist away on tour. Don’t forget to name everything!!!
Snow Day:
Some lucky school groups may have the opportunity to experience the NSW Snowfields in the winter months. As part of our snow play package, Kangaroo Bus Lines includes the hire of waterproof pants and parka to keep them warm and dry. The following items should also be considered to enhance your child’s snow play experience:
- Waterproof Gloves
- Lip Balm
- Sunglasses
Handy Tip: Pack a spare pair of socks for the snow day. This way your child will have dry feet on the coach trip home from the snow.
Optional Items:
Listed below are some other items you may consider packing to enhance your child’s touring experience. Kangaroo Bus Lines strongly encourages checking with your school regarding their policies for taking spending money, cameras and personal devices.
- Reading material and card games for coach travel
- Camera and batteries/charger
- Personal electronic devices
- Mobile phones
- Spending Money
- Stationary and diaries
- Raincoat
Handy Tip: Instead of a raincoat pack a disposable poncho. They are cheap, lightweight and won’t take up much room in their suitcase. They’ll also come in extremely handy should the weather take a turn for the worse!
