5 easy steps for planning your next outing!

The task of organising a day trip for a group of people with varying expectations can be a daunting one.  We’ve put together 5 easy steps to follow to make the process simple, hassle free and even enjoyable.  This means you can rest assured that your group can sit back, relax and get the most out of their day!

STEP 1: Set a budget

Before getting into the finer details of planning your day you need to set a realistic budget.   It’s no good planning an amazing day traversing the countryside and enjoying fine dining when you end up with a price that is way above your group’s expectations.  It’s handy to ask your group or club how much they expect to pay and what they expect to be included for this price.  This is a great starting point to ensure your group isn’t disappointed with their touring experience before they even depart.

STEP 2: Select a destination

Whether you’re a special interest group or just some friends planning a day out, your destination is the key to a fantastic day!  There are many diverse locations around South East Queensland each offering many unique experiences that your group can explore.  If you are after a wining and dining experience then the hinterlands of both the Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast are a must and for an urban immersion then your can’t go past the fascinating history Brisbane City.  There’s certainly something for everyone and the specific interests of your group or club may help you select the perfect destination.

STEP 3: Food

A successful day tour can usually be gauged by the feedback on the food.  Once you have selected your budget and destination you should next consider what meal options are to be included.   Would the group prefer a morning tea and lunch option in their price or would it be better for each passenger to enjoy lunch at their own expense?  Generally the inclusion of at least a morning or afternoon tea will ensure your group is satisfied they are receiving value for money.

STEP 4: Passenger Numbers

Get in early with your expressions of interest.  Once you have packaged up the trip give people the opportunity to register their interest in participating and start gathering payment.  It’s frustrating for those organising the tour and other participants if people don’t RSVP and the tour is cancelled at the last minute.  Also ensure you check when final numbers are due and payment to cover the cost of your trip.

STEP 5: Transport

Save the hassle of everyone driving themselves and select a reputable transport provider.   The final number of participants will help decide what size vehicle you require.    Whether it’s a mini bus, limousine-style vehicle or a full size coach, your transport provider should be able to select the right vehicle to meet your requirements and budget.  Some transport providers like ourselves will even take the hassle out of planning your day and provide you with an all-inclusive, packaged price based on the steps listed above.
