Mary Valley Rattler Tour
Come with us today as we travel back in time, a time when everybody living along the Mary River saw life through the prism of the river, a time when the Mary Valley railway line was a very important part of their community.
From the 1860s rumblings were starting to be heard about the new railway line to Brisbane but it wasn’t until 1891 that the new line was opened. With the discovery of gold in 1867 the new extension to Maryborough was completed and in 1881 the Mary River Line was born. Today we will travel by coach to Gympie, board the Mary Valley Rattler and spend the morning enjoying the scenery along the line to Amamoor and return. Lunch will be served rail-side at the Old Gympie Station followed by a tour of this historic town.
